By joining this partnership, gas companies such as ours are making a commitment to report and reduce methane emissions under a new, more transparent framework, a measure that will make a very effective contribution towards the fight against climate change.
The partnership currently includes 62 companies, which have assets in every continent and represent 30% of the world’s oil and gas production. The new framework, called OGMP 2.0, is the benchmark standard that will help to improve the accuracy and transparency of the information on methane emissions in the oil and gas sector.
The OGMP, which was launched at the UN Climate Summit in 2014, was created by the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) as a voluntary initiative to help companies reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the oil and gas sector. Managed by UNEP, the partnership provides a protocol to help companies systematically manage their emissions and demonstrate real reductions.
